WHO
IS JES.
JES
Hardware Solutions has been in business for a period of ten
years. During this time JES has become the premier provider of
NAS solutions. JES got it start in the CD ROM NAS business some
10 years ago and has become involved in NAS magnetic technology
since then. We are not usually in print media because we believe
in the Internet, where all of our customers go to buy products.
Case in point you found us, because we are all over the
Internet. Here then is a brief history of JES and its products.
CD
ROM NAS JES started designing CD ROM
NAS systems back in 1989 with a company called Microtest. Dell
computers got wind of what JES was up to and signed them on a
their sole provider of this technology for their educational
division at Dell. Since then JES has formed many strategic
partnerships with various manufactures of CD ROM NAS technology,
including Axis Communications, Allion and other companies who
have long since removed themselves from the marketplace. JES now
offers the latest in CD ROM/DVD technology with its old partner
Microtest. The Lightning CD and Tornado CD products are selling
well at JESs prime distributor Ingram Micro.
NAS a brief history
on the beginning of an industry. JES was involved in the
concept of NAS since its beginnings. JES at one time was working
hand in hand with Network Power and Light (NPL) a division of
Mylex. Mylex came out with a product called Autonet. This was an
I960 product (we can talk about I960 later) and was wholly
underpowered, its firmware was a little shaky, but with the help
of JES it was improved. The Snap server then came on the scene
and it spelled the end for NPL as the Snap server was just as
fast and a whole lot cheaper. NPL had depended on the I960 RISC
chip and it do not come thru. JES was displeased with the Snap
Server because basically it was a toy and not to be taken
seriously. The Snap server was a hack product developed from
another NAS company that was acquired by Meridian Data, then
Meridian was acquired by Quantum. You have to give them credit
they sold a lot of them, but JES still believes it gave NAS a
bad name. We
then started working with Creative Design Solutions (CDS). They
had a product called CDS 300, this was a tiny controller that
gave off way too much heat. We tried to work with the CDS 300
and had a few successful products with it namely the NET Raptor.
During the 90s when everybody had a Billion dollars, CDS was
acquired by Maxstor. They discontinued the CDS300 and went the
IDE route like the Snap. JES was once again without a NAS
controller. Our old friend Microtest came out with a product
called Disczerver, we looked at and decided that it was a great
product. This product was great because we could compete with
Snap server on lower level and blow it out of the water and also
offer a fine SCSI based product
to compete with Network Appliance at 1/3 the cost. JES
now offers a complete line of NAS IDE RAID and NAS SCSI RAID
products on a stable platform. If you have never herd of JES it
is because Quantum and Maxstor have a great deal more money than
we do, but we are certainly more experienced in NAS than they
are, Hewlett Packard and all of the other companies coming out
with what they think NAS should be.
RAID and why you
should get your monies worth. Some
of the larger RAID companies, take their time changing to newer
technologies. Compaq for example is still using Ultra drives and
not 160. Customers come to us because we can change to the newer
technologies faster than some of the other RAID companies. We
always offer the latest in RAID technology. That is why
customers like NASA and others call us when they need high speed
modern RAID. Our enclosures are of the finest quality and
design, why because we suggest changes to the enclosure
manufactures and follow closely their development of newer ones.
We are often the Guinea pig for new enclosure technologies. RAID
controllers we are active in the development as well. We often
have faster RAID controllers on the marketplace months before
other larger RAID companies catch up and by then we are still
ahead of them. Why because we do not enter into any long term
contracts with our suppliers. We want to stay cutting edge.
Now
that you know who we are, you can have confidence in our
products like so many other resellers and end-users have.
