RAID Type

The RAID type you select is very important. You can select NAS RAID which is direct network attached or you can select SCSI to SCSI RAID which will require a SCSI card (not a RAID card) in your server. If you select SCSI to SCSI RAID, a SCSI interface card will be provided for both WINTEL and MAC systems. We always recommend the NAS systems because it is easy to install and simple to use

Enclosure Type

All enclosures come with the standard fault tolerant features and redundant power supply. The power-supply, drives, fans, RAID and NAS controllers are all hot swappable. SAFTE features for temperature, blower tolerance, and SCSI Bus health.

Drives Selection

When selecting drives for your RAID, please keep the following in mind. At level 5 RAID the rule of thumb is that the formatted capacity is 70%.For example a level 5 RAID system using 3 9 GIG drives has an 18 GIG capacity. So when picking your base drive remember you have to use a minimum of three drives for level 5 and you have up to thirty bays to work with. Should your budget allow, you can get up to a Terabyte using 30 36 gig drives.
